A need : a solution
The surge in popularity of mountain sports in the 80s accelerated the development of sporting equipment; becoming increasingly reliable, lighter and more breathable. With this in mind, we partnered with research and development experts to adapt Galibier’s heritage models to the current needs of mountain sports enthusiasts.
From the initial concept to the prototype
Engineers from the All Triangles agency spent almost two years working closely with our product manager to revive the Galibier brand through the Super Rando boot. The project was underpinned by the rich and contemporary DNA of this iconic model, before further technological features were added to make it a boot tailored to the expectations of today’s explorers.
Local manufacturing
The Richard-Pontvert group, incorporating Galibier, has always been committed to working with local partners. That’s why production was entrusted to a family-owned workshop in Portugal, with whom we already collaborate on other projects. With over 40 years’ experience in stitched shoes, this manufacturer is undoubtedly one of the very best in Europe!
Cutting
Using patterns, we cut out the various pieces of leather that will form the upper of the shoe.
Stitching
We stitch the pieces of leather together to ensure they are firmly attached.
Assembling
We stitch the upper of the shoe onto the sole. The last (or shoe tree) gives the shoe its final structure.
Finishing
We inspect the quality of the shoes, add laces, correct any imperfections and place the footwear in a box.
