Our expertise

For over 100 years, we have been designing practical footwear crafted locally from durable and natural materials. With this in mind, we pay special attention to our choice of materials, technologies and partners that work with us.

Exceptional materials

The Super Guide and Super Rando models are renowned for their full grain bovine leather, a historic material that is still used by Galibier to this day. Its chrome tanning process gives it long-lasting durability and stability. Beyond the material’s intrinsic qualities, we collaborate with tanneries that hold some of the most stringent international certifications in terms of social and environmental criteria.

Technology for practicality

With more and more people enjoying sporting activities, the world of outdoor equipment has evolved to include lighter, more flexible and more breathable technologies. Galibier’s revival showcases a subtle blend of heritage and innovation. Several technologies have been integrated into the iconic models, such as the co-creation of a Vibram® sole and the addition of a Sympatex® membrane.

Norwegian stitching : the Galibier hallmark

In the 50s, Richard-Pontvert, the company which owns the Galibier brand, took the decision to specialise in the stitching technique. This construction process ensures the shoe is strong as well as reliable, as the upper is attached to the sole through a welt. Choosing this technique also allows means that the shoe can be resoled once the initial sole wears out, ensuring the footwear is truly long-lasting.

Local design and production

For the revival of the legendary Galibier brand, we have surrounded ourselves with experts in their field. We place great importance on handling the entire value chain; from the initial concept to the finished product. As a result, the design and development were carried out in partnership with the Annecy-based agency All Triangles, whilst manufacturing is entrusted to Richard-Pontvert’s long-standing partner located in Portugal.
